“Living Simply, So Others May Simply Live"
CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales and a proud member of Caritas Internationalis. For over 50 years, our CAFOD group at the Parish of The Annunciation, Rushcliffe, has been at the forefront of raising awareness and support for communities in need around the world.
Our Mission
Guided by faith and compassion, our CAFOD group is dedicated to supporting brothers and sisters at home and globally. Through fundraising, prayer, and advocacy, we encourage and support the whole parish community to respond to the call to care for the most vulnerable and promote social justice.
A Legacy of Action
Since its establishment in 1975, the CAFOD group has been an integral part of the parish. Founded by Betty Jones and later led by Mary Crosby, Dympna Kitchin, and currently Liz Bonner. The group has organized countless events and initiatives to raise funds and awareness, including:
-
Sunday lunches /Cake stalls / Plant sales/ Baking competitions / Christmas and Easter fundraising events
-
Social events - square dancing / quizzes / fashion shows / Old Codgers
-
Lent walks with litter picking
-
Live Simply Award - earned through the parishes enthusiasm and commitment to saving our planet
-
Victoria Repair Café - a legacy of the Live Simply Award
-
Lobbying MP’s and joining peaceful demonstrations to raise awareness of the devastating effects of Climate change
We also support the parish to celebrate the two annual Family Fast Days authorised by our bishops for all the parishes in England and Wales.
